Oct. 3rd Performance: BOW
September 7, 2011

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country; corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the Country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the People, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic is destroyed.”
—Abraham Lincoln

On October 3, 2008 President George W. Bush signed into law the $700 billion TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) bailout of the financial sector, etching into world history the idea of “too big to fail”.
On November 9, 2009 Goldman Sachs C.E.O. Lloyd Bankfein joked in an interview with the Times of London that he was “doing God’s work.”
On October 3, 2011 a performance entitled “Bow”, organized by artist Eric Clinton Anderson will make plain the deification of these institutions by bringing our worship to the streets of lower Manhattan.
Early that morning, as the men of Goldman Sachs are arriving at their offices at 200 West Street, a call will ring out. Performers dispersed throughout the commuter crowds will line the sidewalk in front of the tower. As the day’s financial news is read over a loudspeaker in the manner of the Adhan (the Islamic call to prayer), the performers will bow to these exalted men as they enter their hallowed headquarters, carrying on their sacred work.

Come join us! We’ll need plenty of performers, camera people (photo/video), assistants and observers. The more the merrier!

Zefrey Throwell’s “Ocularpation: Wall Street”
August 2, 2011
UPDATE:
We are receiving a huge amount of press for this! I was interviewed by the Daily News, the New York Times (great article, didn’t use my interview, but great coverage!), and Associated Press (via WSJ). What fun! Tons of other great articles popping up, including this one, which is one of my favorites so far.
A million thanks to all the other participants, fellow detainees, photogs, and most of all, my good friend Zefrey Throwell for putting this all together!

Hi everyone!
Just a preview posting to let everyone know about an amazing piece I was honored to be a part of today.
“Ocularpation: Wall Street” by my good friend Zefrey Throwell, happened this morning at 7 am down the length of Wall Street. Some preliminary news coverage here by the NY Times, Metro, and Gawker (NSFW!).
Major coverage in a lot of outlets coming soon, including a full-length article in the NY Times, for which I was just interviewed. Stay tuned!

Patrica Silva and Eric Clinton Anderson's unexpected take on Relational Aesthetics involving Gavin Brown's Volvo, at the Rirkrit Tiravanija show "Fear Eats the Soul"
Patricia Silva (my fellow Radiant Mayhem cohort) and I took Gavin Brown‘s Volvo for a spin at the Rirkrit Tiravanija show this Wednesday. Jerry Saltz wrote about us for New York Magazine.
Check out the article here. You can also read our take on the events on the Radiant Mayhem page. Good times, keeping the edge on.
March Highline Open Studios
March 17, 2011

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Highline Open Studios on March 5th. It was as always a pleasure to present new work. See you again in October.
Lots of exciting events planned! I’ll post pics and video of the “Character Study” performance at Engineer’s Office Gallery soon.
March News
February 27, 2011
PLEASE NOTE: The performance has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 16th at 1 pm.
I’ll be performing a new piece entitled Character Study at Engineer’s Office Gallery.
The piece will consist of me hatching out the exact amount of my student loan debt incurred while obtaining my MFA on the walls of the gallery while wearing painter’s coveralls covered in all of my “identifying” numbers (social security, bank account, credit card numbers, etc.). It is intended as a meditation on the absurdity of how we trap ourselves within the abstractions of financial identities.
The gallery is located at:
1230 Avenue of the Americas
between 48th and 49th street
Basement Level
New York, NY 10020
Rockefeller Center stop
on the F/M/B/D
Hope to see you there!
Open Studio recap and November news
November 9, 2010
Thanks so much to everyone who made it out to the Highline Open Studios last month. It was great to meet so many new people, and the turnout was really amazing.
Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to take many great pictures, as I was usually talking to visitors, but here are a couple. You can see my studiomate Mimi Saltzman’s work to the right.
In other news, my Radiant Mayhem folks and I recently had a visit with Andres Serrano. He was generous enough to look at all of our respective work, and his feedback was amazing. On top of being an amazing artist, he is a truly nice guy, and I am really glad to have gotten the chance to meet with him.
Finally, I’m working on a new fairly large piece for the Man of Tomorrow series which should be done soon. In the meantime, check out the five new Silent Inland Presence pieces in the Painting section.
October, thus far
October 3, 2010

Second, I’ll be showing a piece in the 5th annual Tattoo Culture group show, which opens October 8th. The party will be from 7 pm – 11 pm at 129a Roebling St (between N. 4th & N. 5th) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There will be many excellent artists showing work, so come by and check it out.
